The Crossley Register rally for 2016 was based in the Cotswolds using the Wyck Hill Hotel near Stow on the Wold as our base. The organising "committee" consisted of Martin and Caroline Jacobs, David Cantor and Anna Robertson who managed to find a route that avoided the traffic problems which beset the area on summer weekends, a problem several attendees had discovered on their way down on Friday.

Saturday's departure was scheduled for 9.15 and most people seem to have got away by 9.45 and headed cross country for around 20 miles to Rousham House where we were greeted by the house owner Charles Cottrell-Dormer. After refreshments were taken we had the opportunity to wander round the extensive gardens.

Moving on a short distance we spent the afternoon at the Beeches Light Railway, a 2 foot gauge line nearly a mile long with a Himalayan theme with an ex-Darjeeling loco in steam for us to ride behind. After the train there was a suggested 25 mile route back to the hotel.

Back at the hotel it was time for our annual dinner and entertainment by the D-Day girls singing group. There was also the prize giving and organiser Martin had to apologise for the lack of the traditional treasure hunt on Sunday but awarded first prize to John and Jenni Beasley anyway as they would have won if there had been one.

Sunday's weather was rather overcast but off we went again for a short run to Northleach and the Cotswold Discovery Centre based in the Old Prison. From there we headed north west to Beckford near Tewkesbury and lunch at the Beckford Arms. After lunch it was time to say farewell to those who were going home and for others back to the hotel for the evening and a journey home on Monday.

Next year, Lincolnshire.
