157According to the corporation's records and photographic evidence, Maidstone fleet numbers 42-47 had VR6 engines when new, 5LWs being fitted in 1951, along with fleet number 41; Crossley record 42-47 as 5LW when new; this appears to be incorrect.

(ii)one of Southport's two double-deckers (111, DD42/8T 94939) had a turbo-transmitter, later removed, the other (112, DD42/8S 94934) and Southport's two Crossley single-deckers (116/7, SD42/7S 98213/2) did not have turbo-transmitters.

The table total should be 71. The export table should be revised to read (Uruguay 9, Portugal 1)

195

Coachbuilders table. This table is noted as being "What was reported to Crossley Motors". We have also been able to establish where chassis reported to Crossley as going to one bodybuilder, were actually diverted elsewhere, probably for reasons of quick delivery. Longwell Green built no bodies on Crossley. Longford built 5 and the 'uncertain Plaxton and Longwell Green' mentioned in the notes have now been confirmed. In total, these variations give: Beccols 18 (+2), Bellhouse Hartwell 48 (-1), Burlingham 103 (+1), Longford 5 (+2), Longwell Green 0 (-2), Plaxton 48 (-2), Santus 55 (+1), Whitson 42 (+2), Yeates 62 (-3).

197

Lancaster Guy Arab rebodies should read 4, the total at the bottom of the page of 1122 should be 1124. The Southport DD42s were delivered in 1950 and the Southport AECs in December 1949. The 60 Liverpool AECs in 1954 were Regent III. The 67 Regent V should be shown as 1955/6. The Stockport Leylands were model "PD2". The Bradford trolleybuses were rebodied in 1952, body type E. The final two batches of Liverpool Leylands (65,60) had Park Royal frames. Portsmouth 1955 body type is F not N.

199

In the heading "post-was" should be "post-war". The location of picture 3 is Barrow Town Hall, the bus's indicators are set incorrectly.

200

Bolton. It appears that although the four single-deckers were promised with downdraught engines, they were delivered with sidedraught units.

215

218

The correct spelling is Wilks and Meade.

219

The Withnell coachbuilding firm was actually based in Shotton, Flint, the name deriving from the owner, Ernest Withnell, and not the Lancashire village.

232

Centre caption: "Ruston's" should read "Rushton's".

236

Birmingham. These 10 chassis were stored for several months before bodying. 1647/51/55 were converted to downdraught engines, 1655 whilst being bodied and 1647/51 shortly after entering service. An as yet undetermined number of downdraught conversions were purchased in 1954/5 and fitted to some of 2266-2395 and 1646/8-50/2-4

262

Delta. Engine was 3,705cc 20/60. Page 142 is correct.
