The 2011 Crossley Register UK rally, organised by John and George Mellish took place in the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley on the English/Welsh border. The base was the Speech House Hotel in the Forest and we were with spoiled with some excellent sunny weather.
As usual many people arrived on the Friday afternoon for a social gathering in the hortel car park.
As is traditional, on Saturday we had a navigation exercise with coffee stop at the old railway station near Tintern Abbey before proceeding to Chepstow for lunch. We had special parking reserved in front of the castle where judging of the cars took place. Leaving Chepstow we proceeded to the Clearwell caves, actually an old iron mine where the adveturous took an underground tour. Saturday night was reserved for our annual dinner folowed by the prizegiving.
On Sunday a short run with a very steep narrow hill took us to the village of St Briavels for a walking treasure hunt with some suitably cryptic clues. From there it was a short run to our lunch at the Rising Sun Inn at Moseley Green.
